Who created the Tech Guide?
The Tech Guide is a publication of Parkinson’s UK. It’s co-created with a wide range of community members to try and make sure we’re doing the right things.
Parkinson’s UK
The Tech Guide is a project created and funded by Parkinson’s UK, in response to a widely heard need from the community of people with Parkinson’s and those around them.
Within Parkinson’s UK, we have a small team focused on the Tech Guide. One person manages the catalogue and the review process, as well as monitoring the views shared by community members directly. One person designs the user experience - how you, as a reader, find and explore the products and other resources in the Tech Guide. And one person (the Product Manager) pulls all the disparate pieces together and helps make sure we deliver what we need to.
Crucially, we also work with:
- a Steering Group of people with Parkinson’s and family members who set our direction and hold us accountable
- a Specialist Panel of nurses, doctors, therapists and academics, who help us maintain our standards, and
- a Reviewer Pool made up of people with Parkinson’s who share their direct experiences of the products we review
With support from the Michael J. Fox Foundation
The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (“MJFF”) provided funding to Parkinson’s UK for the Tech Guide. MJFF has a policy of refraining from advocating, endorsing or promoting any drug therapy, course of treatment, or specific company or institution. It is crucial that care and treatment decisions related to Parkinson’s disease and any other medical condition be made in consultation with a physician or other qualified medical professional.
